They are off!

Hello everyone!
I wanted to give you an update on the team that is traveling to MCC.
All is well and they boarded the plane about 11:45.
Yesterday we received news that Tom Kibalo's mother had passed away. Debbie, Tom and their daughter Andrea were a part of the team traveling to MCC. Please keep Tom and his family in your thoughts and prayers at this sad time. They still hope to join the team in Nairobi, but need to figure out the details here at home first. Be in prayer that they will work all out and be at peace with joining then team. They all really want to be a part of the team.
So, that leads me to this morning. 7 members of the team arrived at Dullas to check in. They checked 28 bags. Wayne had to make a new friend, since the man who usually is there was off this week. He managed to get the airline to allow 2 extra bags and not weight overage, just a flat rate for each bag. The total was about $1,200. This was a blessing, since most of the bags weighted over the allotted 50 pounds! It is amazing how my dad can work his magic. The team was traveling with 13 laptops and was under the impression they could take a carry on and a laptop case. When they were going to security check they were told that they were only allowed one bag. So with 7 people and 13 laptops, you can image how heavy the carry on bags were. Arron carried on 6 laptops in his bag. The Rotary grant had purchased some equipment that was in Carroll's carry on. It was a document camera, the security person said they thought it looked like a table saw. We had expected them to ask to see it.
I am putting a link to the blog for the team (Anni) from Australia. Please support them with comments and prayers!

I will let you all know when I hear they have arrived!

  3. I am sure it was only prayer and Wayne's winning ways that got those pieces of luggage on. It seems no matter what, all adversities are overcome each year on this trip. God blesses you for doing his work in this way. May He continue to bless all of you who have gone there, Patrick, the teachers and children. I am so with you there in spirit that I can almost feel it. I imagine those others who have been feel the same way. Love to all, Judie
